It’s full concentration on our house’s renovation ever since ROM is over! Only started to source for interior designers after our exams in May. First stop was to Ideal House, then second one visited was One Inch Square Feet Studio. After we got both quotes, we decided to meet up the both IDs for bargining/reducing of unneccessary items before we confirmed which to sign up. So, our final nod goes to Melvin from Ideal House. His sincerity definitely won us over, after much reduction from the 1st quote.
Confirmed & signed up with Melvin 2 weeks ago and we started our sourcing for home appliances and furniture. All thanks to today’s technology and social media platforms (not forgetting friend’s recommendations), we managed to get all the cheaper deals as compared to the big players in the market now. Heartland shops have the best deals and not forgetting the famous Mega Discount shop! It did save us a great deal!
Managed to get a good quote for system 4 inverter aircon from one of the heartland electronic shop in AMK. A whopping difference of $777 from the big players! Might be finalising with them by this week too! Set our eyes on the sofa & mattress from Seahorse, and their 50% promotion now is too tempting to be missed!
Renovation scheduled to start on 28 July, just before the 7th month festival. Yeap, we can’t wait for the end results!

As mentioned, initial keys collection was scheduled to be on 30 March. However, we rescheduled it to 16 May due to our busy schedule. And guess what? The day for keys collection is tomorrow! Time has definitely passed so fast without us realising!
I’m pretty excited now! But after collection of keys, we will have to rush to school for our exam revision. We planned to open the door on 21 May (after our last paper), but it will be brought forward to Tues (17/5) as suggested by MIL. Thus, it’ll be door opening on 17 May! YAY! Really excited now!
As much as we’re excited, we’re feeling pretty stressed up for our exams too. Just can’t wait for exams to finish!

It has been one week and 2 days since our ROM on 26 March 2011. It seems to passed by so fast! It still feels kinda surreal at times. Thinking back, it was really a wonderful day spent on our big day. Everything was great on that day, our family & friends whom attended, the floral set-up, the photographer, the solemnizer, etc…
We’re really thankful for everyone for their well wishes & gifts! It was indeed one of our best days! I’m still immersing myself in the blissful day! Hehe….

Now that our ROM is over, it’s time for the upcoming house (reno, IDs) followed by our planned AD in the lower half of 2012. Date have yet to be fixed. But we do hope we can fix the date soonest possible so we can work towards the date.

Officially counting down to 6 days more before our ROM day! From double digits countdown till now, single digit! Yeah! I’m definitely getting excited! Initially, everyone was asking if I’m feeling excited last week, but my answer was “Not yet, all because of the stressful strategy class over the weekends”.
And lessons are over! So I guess the excitedness and nervousness will start to kick in soon? Have to run through the stuff and checklist to ensure that we didn’t miss out any things tomorrow. Then it’ll be the final fitting at diGio on Thurs at 6.30pm, followed by declaration at ROM (MND) on Friday morning. Shall proceed to do my nails while Gabby goes to check in at NSRCC at 2pm.
Initial make-up timing was at 12pm on the day itself, but we pushed to 11am, then 10am and a final change to 9am at diGio. Arranged a pre-ROM photography with Sam, thus we need to get ready earlier else there wouldn’t be enough time for the photo taking since our ceremony starts at 2pm. Hopefully there’ll be ample time!
So now….. it’s COUNTING DOWN!

Yeap! As the title suggested, we’re scheduled for keys collection on 30 March 2011. However, after much discussion & considerations, we will be re-scheduling it to May instead. As both of us are still busy with school work/examinations this 2 months, we foresee we won’t have time to settle the IDs, reno & etc. Thus, it’ll work better for us to re-schedule keys collection and Gabby will be able to earn 2 more months of CPF contributions.
So, it’s agreed! We will schedule for collection during our study break in mid-May and we’ll only proceed to door opening after exams! woo! I can’t wait!

Officially left with 1 month, 2 weeks & 2 days to go till our ROM day. Have been making the necessary preparations and I’m afraid of missing out some items!
Wanted to DIY the pen holder from scratch using coloured papers/glitter foam. After I bought the materials from popular, I had another idea instead. I was afraid the DIY outcome will be kinda ugly, thus I decided to just purchase a glass holder and fill it up with “crystal” jems or beads. And voila, I’ll have a beautiful pen holder!Managed to buy a glass cup and glass coaster at IKEA last week. So I’m left with sourcing for the “crystal” jems or beads and I’ll be done!
Next to make a deposit to the florist, send rings for engraving, continue with my diet (hehe!) and wait for the actual day!

Had our ROM fitting this afternoon at 2pm! Lucky we still managed to go ahead despite Gabby’s knee injury which have caused him walking difficulties. Initially had thought that decision would be tough for me as I’m a very indecisive person and I’m kinda picky! But I managed to find the “perfect” dress within an hr’s time just after about 5 tries!
It looks kinda simple from the front, but it has those ribbon tie behind (erm what that’s design called?). Wanted to add a sash as it looks simple, but still decided not to as it looks kinds weird with one. So it’ll be a simple off-white dress with a more complicated back design. Requested to remove the below tulle as its looks weird. Hope the final alteration will be a perfect one!
Have already decided on the heels I wanted ever since I laid my eyes on one pair since a few months ago. Nothing else caught my eyes! Thus, it’ll definitely be that pair. Gonna go the heels as soon as we’re free! I will prefer the white pair, but my coordinator mentioned that silver will be a better choice as my dress is in off-white. Now I can’t wait to lay my hands on the heels!
We also met up with the florist, Josephine at around 7pm to discuss about the package, design & colour theme. Decided on lilac sash, with pink maria rose, ivory rose, and some lilac & purple flowers. Chose this coordination as my hand bouquet from the BS will be in pink. A simple bouquet but I love it as well!
Thus, in a day, it’s another 2 more items in the checklist done!

1. Confirm caterer & the menu
2. Confirmation with florist and our colour theme (Meeting florist, Josephine on 14 Jan, after our ROM fitting!)
3. Send rings for engraving (didn’t engrave previously as we have yet to decide on the date)
4. Meet up with JP for the briefing and signing of consent form Got another solemnizer and consent form received!
5. Arrange an appointment with BS for fitting (gotta do it before we go on our trip)
6. Tailor make Gabby’s shirt and our shoes buying after fitting
7. e-Filing of notice of marriage! (to be done soon!)
8. Printing of invitation card (to check with my relative)
A few items in the checklist striked off! Now, I can’t wait for our ROM fitting at the BS on 14 Jan, 2pm! Ok, I’ve swear that I shall not have any lunch before the fitting on next friday! *SMILES*
Now I’m waiting for Gabby to wake up before proceeding with our e-filing of notice of marriage with ROM! Received the consent form from our solemnizer yesterday! Very prompt actions by him indeed!
And guess what’s in the mail?

yes yes! It’s the HLE letter from HDB! This means our flat has passed HDB’s inspection and keys will be made ready for collection SOON! But if it’s before our ROM, we might still be re-scheduling the collection to April, as suggested by the HDB officer-in-charge of our case. And I do need to compliment her for the wonderful advise & help rendered!

Yay our solemnizer is finally CONFIRMED!
Initially, we sent an invite to one of the solemnizer my colleague recommended me (let’s name him Mr X). But in fact, we wanted to invite Dr Phua initially as recommended by our photographer. He mentioned that Dr Phua is more humorous and will create a more lively atmosphere as compared to Mr X. But the problem was that I couldn’t find Dr Phua in the licensed solemnizer (maybe I wasn’t patient enough to go through every list). Thus, we decided to invite Mr X instead.
But as fate has it, Mr X’s license was expired and renewal was delayed till end Jan 2011. We only knew of it when we tried e-Filing our notice of marriage and had consulted Mr X on this issue. Being the more anxious one, I decided not to wait till end Jan 2011 and to try inviting Dr Phua (found his name in the list after inviting Mr X) instead. And luckily, Dr Phua is free on our ROM day! YAY!
So our confirmed solemnizer will be Dr Phua! Now we’ll have to break the news to Mr X that we decided not to wait as I’m afraid of further delay.
