The proud winner shared her joy!

Life always has its way of throwing sweet little surprises when we least expect it. Winning an exclusive, much envied Chanel flap bag is definitely one of those moments worth cheering for.

Lucky couple:

The bride: Gao Qing Fang, 27, IT-Skills Teacher

The groom: Loo Chia Feng, 24, Web Programmer

“I feel very lucky and happy,” shares Qing Fang as W&T presents her with the limited edition Chanel Valentine ’10 lambskin flap bag as a result from winning the grand prize of “Wedding March” lucky draw. The 27-year old teacher admits of having liked this bag for some time and even dreams of buying the exact same model in black.

Is it fate or just pure luck, you decide.

Rewind to 3-7 March 2010 when W&T held its signature “Wedding March” event at Vivocity, Qing Fang and boyfriend Chia Feng had no idea the grand prize for the lucky draw contest would be theirs.

It was their first time to visit such wedding fair, and the couple had high hopes. They were eager to look for the suitable wedding packages for their big day which is going to be held on September 18.

It was no simple task, but in the end the duo got what they came there for. They happily signed up for two wedding packages – an overseas photography package in Taiwan from Bluebay Wedding and an actual day photography package with wedding gowns from Bliss Bridal.

The couple wishes to make unique and memorable pre-wedding pictures and doing the shoot overseas would definitely be a new and exciting experience.

Qing Fang, who is originally from China, has known Singaporean Chia Feng for five years and they have been dating for some good three years. She confesses that both their passion for IT was one of the many things that brought them together.

Sharing in W&T office, the beaming bride-to-be recalls the time during their courtship when she had to move to Australia for further study. And even though it was hard on their relationship, it certainly only made it stronger. In the end, she decided to come back to Singapore to be with her beloved better half.

It’s nice to reminded that true love is worth fighting for. And W&T couldn’t be happier to be able to present this beautiful couple with the Chanel Valentine lambskin flap bag – something as special as their love.

An Unsuspecting Couple Wins Big

Read the heartwarming story of a couple who won a special gift from W&T’s previous wedding exhibition, “Wedding March”. As they shared their joy, allow yourself to smile over a snippet of their love.

Lucky couple:

Tok Su Wen, 26, Assistant Customer Service Manager

Ted Lee, 29, Business Development Manager

On the previous W&T event, “Wedding Festival”, W&T gave away a limited edition LV Monogram Vernis Alma PM Bag with Pretty Bag Charm as the grand prize of the lucky draw.

The beautiful and exclusive bag has definitely charmed many hearts of the brides-to-be-during the event, and one very lucky couple has been selected to receive this special gift.

On a Wednesday afternoon, W&T called Su Wen to tell her about the good news, but she later tell us that she didn’t believe it at first and thought it was simply a gimmick call.

But Su Wen later logged on to W&T website and saw her name clearly written there as the sole winner who deserved this very exclusive LV bag!

It was all smiles and no more doubts as Su Wen and her boyfriend, Ted Lee, 29, arrived in W&T office to collect their prize. Although both of them were very  busy, they happily agreed to talk to W&T and even posed with their newest possession.

Sharing later on, the couple said that it was their first time to ever take part in any wedding exhibitions. After seeing a television ad of ‘Wedding Festival’ which was held from 19 to 21  February 2010 at Suntec Exhibition and Convention Centre, Su Wen and Ted were eager to look for the right wedding package for their wedding ceremory which will be held in January next year.

In two hours time, the duo has gotten what they came there for. A wedding package from My Dream Wedding fit both their needs and budget, and lady luck was also on their side as the lucky draw they filled in that night was chosen as winner out of many hundred others.

Su Wen and Ted’s path crossed six years ago through business contacts as they were both working in transportation and shipping industry. They have been dating since. And two years ago, the couple registered their marriage at ROM.

For the lovely couple, it is going to be an experience like no other as they are starting to plan out the details for their much-anticipated wedding. We hope that this charming LV bag may just be a special sign for the start of their wonderful journey ahead.

Bringing the best of indoor to outdoor!

Outdoor weddings are becoming more popular these days! Let nature be the backdrop for your big day with an outdoor wedding celebration. From a garden, a park, to the beach, these venues can be made casual, cozy, fancy, and traditional however you want it to be.

Imagine rejoicing the most special day with your other half and your loved ones in a truly romantic setting; under the bright blue sky, your face being swept away by the gentle breeze, and having a beautiful view of the nature. Imagine having the sky as your ceiling and flowers at your feet.

There are many outdoor venues in Singapore that can make such a perfect backdrop of your wedding reception, and you may be surprised to find that in Summer Romance, you can get in touch and talk to catering services that are able to plan a wedding dinner that is unique, memorable, and surprisingly affordable. You don’t have to pay for using a garden or a beach, so the money you save can definitely be made useful for your other wedding preparations need.

Having an outdoor wedding dinner means you can have more options to decide on the decorations and themes that you want. We can say, the sky is the limit when it comes to choosing the themes. You can also pick the food that goes with the theme of the reception, for instance, having nice seafood spread when you’re having a beach-theme wedding dinner is very special. Couples and guests can mingle better in this nice setting that will entertain all.

Another great point with outdoor wedding reception is that you have more space and guests will feel more relaxed and comfortable. But it doesn’t mean that you can’t have a grand wedding that you have always wanted. It is also untrue that you may get dirty during the event. There are lots of ways the wedding provider can do to ensure your wedding dinner’s cleanliness, if that’s what you’re worried of. For instance, having a carpet on the grass.

So why not make your wedding dinner a beautiful event where your guests are immersed in the wonders of open air, beyond walls and convention?

Reinventing Restaurants for Wedding Banquets

Some Singapore top Chinese restaurants are fast turning into favorite venues for wedding banquets as they continue to upgrade themselves to meet rising demands of younger couples tying the knot.

Their bigger floor space now can accommodate more dinning tables and guests, unlike the older, traditional restaurants of the past. The space also allows greater flexibility in design and decor which allow for a wide range of wedding themes at your fancy.

Check it out. A visit to these restaurants will surely convince you that they are no longer what they were. They have re-invented themselves with the changing times to become top choices as wedding banquet venues today.

Some of them can take in as many as 800 guests for a big wedding reception, and they boast an attractive stage with no pillar or any blockage in the dinning hall so that the newly-weds and their guests can get full view of one another at the joyous occasion throughout the evening.

Most of these restaurants now engage special theme wedding designers to suit your needs and preferences, be they Chinese or Western, traditional or modern, grand or simple. Whatever is the theme you prefer, they can definitely create the ambiance you want to make it night to remember for you and your guests.

In addition, restaurants also provide the best menus and quality selection of food to your taste and those of your guests on your Big Day. Their culinary choices have expanded to include fusions of the East and West to cater to the young besides the traditional dishes. Their presentation too, has been re-invented to be creative with modern utensils used in order to give dinners a contemporary feel.

They are indeed your one-stop providers for food catering, even outside their premises. If you need additional food catering to celebrate your wedding, be it for the receptions at the traditional customary ceremonies held at home or solemnization in the church or else where, they will be there for you too.

Bookings for wedding banquets at other venues may take months if not a year, especially the popular ones. But not at restaurants as they are better equipped and ready since they operate both as the food and venue provider at the same time. You can usually get a confirmed booking within weeks with a restaurant these days.

As a result, they are also more cost-effective in their operations without having to provide margins like other venues which need to engage a separate operator for food before putting the wedding banquet together.

And as they usually pass the savings on to the consumers, you, their prices are certainly more attractive, affordable and competitive as compared with the others.

How to be financially wise in wedding preparations

Girls have been dreaming of their perfect wedding day since they were little, so there are a lot of emotions and expectations to make it as big and grand as possible.

But, bear in mind that the most important thing about your wedding is the start of a new life together with your loved one, and you don’t want to start it with a debt on your hands. So sometimes, a simple wedding can be just as special and extraordinary.

Here are some handy tips Wedding and Travel would love to share with you:

1) Hold your solemnization and banquet in the same venue. This saves you cost and time in looking for additional venues, it also helps your guests to find their way around better with less traveling to do. Decoration and management stress may also be halved as all focus goes into one place only.

2) Opt for a high-tea buffet spread. Food can amount to most of your wedding budget, but it’s your day so you shouldn’t be fretting so much about it! A simple, cosy high-tea buffet spread sets a friendly and sociable ambiance so you and your guests and relax and enjoy the moment. Caterers can provide a range of finger foods also.

3) Rent your gowns and tuxedos. Chances are you won’t be wearing your elaborate dream gowns and suits again, so renting them only seems practical. This way, you can also rent out more designs from your bridal boutique for the big day and add more flair and style to your wedding.

4) Go eco-friendly with supplement flowers and fresh herbs. Every wedding is bound to have tons of flowers: for the bouquets, for the tabletops, for the chairs, and maybe even for the guests. This can get quite costly, especially if you are using imported or out-of-season flowers in your arrangements which only last for a day. Ask your florist to substitute with local or supplement flowers and fresh herbs. They are less expensive and look and smell good too!

Show off your sparkling pearly whites at your wedding!

Thinking of getting your teeth whitened before your big day? Your wedding pictures are going to last for a lifetime, so it’s just natural that you wish to be the most beautiful bride with a beautiful smile.

After all, you can never have teeth that are too white. And this can certainly give you a boost of confidence when you smile your brightest and biggest smile to the loved ones during your pre-wedding photo shoots and of course, on your wedding day itself!

Some of the easiest and least expensive ways to brighten the smile are by buying over-the-counter products, such as teeth whitening strips and whitening toothpaste. These are very easy to use. Teeth whitening strips do work, but seeing the results may take longer because they don’t contain strong bleaching chemicals. Whitening toothpaste may have additional polishing ingredients that are more effective against stains than regular toothpaste, but they are not actually designed to bleach the teeth.

The best way to achieve the perfect and whitest smile is by going to the dentist and having a laser cleaning and whitening treatment. The result is amazing; your teeth may turn six to eight shades whiter!

Although this second option is more expensive, the result is without doubt, excellent.

So, after having performed this procedure, you just need to maintain the shade of your teeth by reducing certain habits such as smoking, eating certain food and drinking coffee and tea which may stain the teeth. Brush your teeth at least twice a day with whitening toothpaste, and you’re all set!

Whatever the method, attend to your teeth and don’t be shy to show off your sparkling pearly whites at your wedding! Everyone will remember your smile.

Share your thoughts and experience if you have tried any of these methods before! Or perhaps you have your own secret routine of maintaining your bright teeth?

Wedding bouquets like no other

Bouquets are ever-present at weddings. Be it a bridal bouquet, tabletop bouquet or bridesmaid bouquet; over time, these beautiful wedding ornaments have become more personalized with so many distinctive styles available to suit any taste.

When choosing the bridal bouquet though, it’s important to make sure that it blends well with your wedding theme. It should also flatter your wedding gown. For instance, if you want to have a softer and more romantic ceremony, you can set the scene with warm and pastel colors such as lilac, pink and creamy flowers.

Having a sophisticated bouquet which displays a great amount of flowers at the base of the bouquet, giving it a beautiful spilling over effect, will be amazing if you are wearing a large ball gown dress. A simple and elegant round shaped bouquet will complement a classic gown more.

Or here’s an idea. You can draw up and design your desired wedding bouquets and take it to the florist!

Every bride is unique, and a wedding bouquet can be a symbol of your beautiful personality. It doesn’t only brighten and elevate the mood of your ceremony; it may also carry a special and personalized message.

What do you envision your wedding bouquets to look like?
